a tiffness fitness podcast!

hello friends!

I haven’t blogged in quite some time (maybe I should?) but i do now have a podcast! If you want more long form thoughts from me that’ll be the place to go!

my podcast is about strength generally. Literally all the strength things you can think of. Kettlebells, barbells, indian clubs, steel mace, running… really anything about strength training and I get to chat with lots of really cool people that I admire!

So - check it out!

it’s called the tiffness fitness podcast and you can search for it wherever you get your podcasts but here is the link to Spotify & YouTube (if you like to watch your podcasts)!

Let me know if you really want some blogs from me, cause I’ll write em if you’ve got requests!

"Quaran-ten" is BS

(So I wrote this back in June, but hey it still stands. So I am publishing this in September. Wear a mask, y’all, but don’t let this quaran-ten nonsense linger in your brain for a second).

Oh man has it been a long time since I wrote a blog post, but between trying to podcast (which didn’t really work out in its current form) and having all the jobs this was not a priority. But hey, I’ve been doing very little for a while so I figured why not write a blog post.

On a personal note, since March, I have lost several jobs due to Covid-19 (going from 40+ hours a week to literally 2 hours a week) and moved halfway across the country (not due to Covid). And the world has just been absolutely wild. Like, most of us have been very isolated and training has (rightfully) not been a priority because global pandemic and (more recently) a historic civil rights movement. These are IMPORTANT and life - altering things and yet I still see sponsored posts about how to lose your “quaraten.” Because weight gain is clearly the most pressing matter of the moment. (It’s absolutely not, I hope you could read the sarcasm in that).

So basically, I wanted to say something on that whole “quaraten” nonsense because oh wow is it just bullshit.

Y’all we are collectively going through a PANDEMIC. Life has changed. Like, forever. There will always be a pre & post Corona in our collective timelines. Our routines and schedules and finances and lives have been thrown up in the air and we are actively trying to pick up the pieces. Your weight has very likely fluctuated with this time (I know mine has) because our lives have changed. Maybe you became food insecure because you lost your job or maybe its been really hard to take care of yourself while also working from home, homeschooling, and managing a household while no one can leave the house, or maybe your anxiety has made it really hard to cook for yourself so more takeout. ALL OF THESE (and literally everything else) ARE VALID. you are valid. weight gain happens. seriously. body weight fluctuates. these have been wild and stressful times and even if it wasn’t for you, gaining weight is not the end of the world. It is normal.

With things starting to open back up again, there’s gonna be this push to get back to “normal” and probably pressure to lose weight coming back in at a million miles an hour and I just want to give that a hearty middle finger and to remind you that you are awesome no matter what your weight & you can get back into the gym and your routine (whatever that was) without the added stress of feeling like you “have to” lose weight to be back to “normal.” Live your life, find your routine again (gym or no gym), and do what makes your body feel good. Anyone who is selling you losing your “quaraten” is a trash can of a human being and though I don’t want to tell you what to do… unfollow that negativity and find some better people to follow and fill your timeline with better content.

Movement & Mentality: A Podcast

If you check this blog out on the regular (first of all, who are you?? second of all, thank you!!) you probably noticed that I have not been updating this blog at all lately.

& that is for good reason! I started a podcast! So instead of writing everything out, I have been just talking it out! You should all definitely give it a listen.
